Tips For Planning The Perfect Hawaiian Vacation

Posted on

Beautiful scenery, amazing beaches, and a variety of activities and restaurants have long made the Hawaiian islands an incredibly popular vacation destination. If you want to plan a visit to one of the islands, it is important to be prepared and do your research to help ensure that you get the most out of your vacation. Use the following tips to organize the perfect Hawaiian vacation:

Book Flights

Generally, the best deals on flights to Hawaii can be found several months before you plan to travel. However, if you plan to book your flights using frequent flyer miles, you will want to do so as soon as you can, as there are a limited number of seats reserved for frequent flyer miles on each flight. If you're planning on vacationing on more than one island, don't forget to also book your inter-island flights.

Decide on a Place to Stay

There are many lodging options in Hawaii, from luxurious resorts to small studio condos that can be rented short-term. After you choose an island to visit, start doing your research on what part of the island that you want to stay on. Then, you can look into different hotel options and vacation rentals. If your budget allows, it is highly recommended that you book places to stay with an ocean view to enhance your vacation experience.

Rent a Car

Unless you're staying in the Waikiki area of Oahu, you will need to rent a car during your vacation. Outside of Waikiki, public transportation is not widespread, and it is more affordable to rent a car than rely on expensive taxi rides. Having a rental car will also give you the freedom to explore the island that you are staying on so you can take in the splendor of Hawaii. If you're traveling during the high season or around the winter holidays, book your rental car as soon as you know your travel dates in order to secure the best deal.

Choose Activities and Excursions

The Hawaiian islands offer a variety of activities and excursions for people of all ages and fitness levels. If you're staying on Maui during the winter months, you may want to consider booking a whale watching cruise. For those staying on the Big Island of Hawaii, a trip to Volcanoes National Park is something that won't soon be forgotten. And no trip to Kauai is complete without seeing the Na Pali coast.
